Along with a lot else, my novella "The Thirty-Million-Day Dance Card" has been longlisted by the British Fantasy Society for a (think hard here) British Fantasy Award. It's an award for which I have the highest respect, and one that I've had a passionate desire to win ever since, well over a decade ago, I discovered a few weeks after the event that my longish story "The Glad Who Sang a Mermaid in from the Probability Sea" had reached a shortlist of three but hadn't in fact won. (You'd have thought someone might have told me it was on the shortlist!)

Anyway, a bit more in-touch this time, I've created a FREE-OMIGOD-SO-EXCITING-CAN-THIS-BE-TRUE??!!?? offer of an online version of "The Thirty-Million-Day Dance Card" that anyone can read, plus the further offer, for folks like me who find online reading a bit of a challenge, of an e-mailed rtf or pdf version of the novella. I imagine that, all over the world, stocks and shares are either soaring or plummeting at the news of this quite astonishing freebie.

Well, okay, maybe not.

Whatever the case, there are details and links at http://www.britishfantasysociety.org/bfsdiscuss/index.php?board=19.0 (scroll down if need be until you find the heading to click).

If there are other fictions of mine you'd like to have in rtf or pdf, by all means e-mail and ask. Some are tied up, but many are free for me to distribute as I will.

Oh, I meant to say that "The Thirty-Million-Day Dance Card" is basically about love, sex, the dances we dance around each other when we're in love, and how even the best and most gifted of us trip over each others' feet. Or something.
